Gabbar is an upcoming Hindi action drama film, directed by Krish and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. It features Akshay Kumar and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles. Prakash Raj, Sonu Sood and Sunil Grover will play important supporting roles. Kareena Kapoor Khan is expected to do a cameo appearance in Gabbar. The soundtrack and film score are composed by Sajid-Wajid. The film started in early 2014 and will release worldwide on 23 January 2015 coinciding with the Republic Day weekend in India. It is an official remake of the 2002 critically and commercially successful Tamil A. R. Murugadoss film Ramana, starring Vijaykanth and Simran in lead Roles. The original was remade in Telugu as Tagore with Chiranjeevi in the lead and then in Kannada as Vishnu Sena with Vishnuvardhan in the lead role.

Plot
Gabbar Singh Rajput (Akshay Kumar) creates his own vigilante military network called the Anti-Corruption Force (ACF) that eliminates the most corrupt individuals, from all walks of life, in a systematic manner. As pressure builds on Police and Government to track down the man who masterminds these killings, Balbir Singh (Sonu Sood) is specially summoned to head the task. He is aided by Suryam (Prakash Raj) who, though being just a constable in the mammoth Police force, is compelled by his instincts to see through the underlying design.

Casting
Akshay Kumar plays the male lead.[3] Actresses Katrina Kaif, Ileana D'Cruz, Asin Thottumkal, Shraddha Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Tamannaah Bhatia were reportedly being considered for the female lead, though Shruti Hassan and Kareena Kapoor Khan was later confirmed for the role. Sonu Sood will play the role of a cop while Prakash Raj will play an intuitive constable who finds out about ACF. Suman is the antagonist.
