Vishal Bhardwaj's adaptation of William Shakespeare's 'Hamlet', Haider -
a young man returns home to Kashmir on receiving news of his father's
disappearance. Not only does he learn that security forces have detained
his father for harboring militants, but that his mother is in a
relationship with his very own uncle. Intense drama follows between
mother and son as both struggle to come to terms with news of his
father's death. Soon Haider learns that his uncle is responsible for the
gruesome murder, what follows is his journey to avenge his father's
death.

magnificent.
The trailer of 'Haider' captures the perfect scenic beauty of Kashmir, where it doesn't reveal much about the storyline, but portrays a powerful combination of romance, conflict and revenge. It's a typical Bhardwaj's film, which is meant for masses and not for classes.
Shahid Kapoor will be seen in totally different avatar in the movie. Shedding his trademark chocolate-boy image, the actor will be sporting a dense beard and short trimmed hair. He is surely promising, and looks like he is back in his Kaminey avatar. Meanwhile, Shahid also shared a steamy and passionate lip-lock with co-star Shraddha, along with a lovemaking sequence.

Production
Initially, Bharadwaj and Kapoor were in talks of making a sequel to their blockbuster film, Kaminey. After more discussion however, Bharadwaj decided to instead produce another of Shakespeare's plays. He decided to either do King Lear or Hamlet, choosing to adapt the latter due to the political intrigue and history of Kashmir as well as the play's sexual conflicts.

Kapoor, along with Bharadwaj and UTV Motion Pictures each have a 33.3% share in the film. Kapoor reportedly became a producer for the film due to his trust and belief in the film's success. The budget for the film is INR37 crore (US$6.2 million), with INR22 crore (US$3.7 million) going into the production of the film and INR15 crore (US$2.5 million) going into the film's publicity.UTV and Vishal Bhardwaj will launch the trailer of Shahid Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor starrer #Haider at an event in Mumbai on 8 July.Filming
A large part of shooting of the film was done in Srinagar in Kashmir which started on 8 November 2013. The film was earlier slated to release on the same day of Ranbir Kapoor's release Jagga Jasoos. There were some protests while the shoot of the film was going on in Kashmir University. The last schedule of shooting for 'Haider' began in Kashmir in January 2014. Bhardwaj has reportedly assured J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that the film would have nothing to harm the local sensibilities and the political aspirations. The shooting was completed by 24 February 2014. Tabu is playing the role of step-mother of Shahid in the film.
